The purposes of this board
This board has two purposes:

The first is to point players to the Game Rules, and their explanations (see below).

The second is to serve as a platform for players to voice their concerns, opinions, and suggestions on those rules. This is important, as these rules come from and reflect the community's idea of itself, and in order for them to still serve this active community involvement in them is necessary.

About the first purpose

 Many people will appreciate a little general background to the rules of Daimonin and a few words on the system which is in place to enforce them. This is all covered in the wikipages'Overview: the Game, the Community, and Why We Have Rules' and 'Enforcement of the Game Rules'.

 A complete list of rules is found in the wikipage 'List of Game Rules'. All players must familiarise themselves with these. They are publically available and accessible, so claiming ignorance is no excuse or mitigation for breaking the rules.

 However, after reading the list, you may find yourself enraged/disappointed/bewildered at the apparent repressive nature of one or more of the rules. In this case, be sure to also read the wikipage 'General Interpretation of the Game Rules' and the detailed wikipage explanation of the specific rule.

This board is not for complaints about the enforcement of the rules or other conduct of the Vols, GMs, and DMs. Such complaints should be sent to the Complaint_dept Service.[/list]

About the second purpose

 Criticism and intelligent discussion of the rules are encouraged -- we want to hear the opinions of the community and we want these rules and their interpretation to be as representative as possible of the wishes of the community (note that this specifically means that individual players -- regardless of their ingame level, when they first started playing Daimonin, how 'loud', funny, rude, or eloquent their posts are, and so on -- will not necessarily get their way). Whining and meritless rants against the rules are not wanted. They will likely be ignored and the posts may simply be deleted.

 Although player's opinions will be considered with the same seriousness as they are expressed, the final decision on the inclusion or otherwise and exact form of each rule will be made by the devteam.

 The correct way to comment on a rule or any aspect of these locked topics is to post to a (possibly new) normal topic and quote the relevant passage from the announcement or sticky. Attribute the quote to the wikipage from which it was taken, not to the owner of that page, and make your comment underneath. Be sure to check for older topics which already address your point before posting a new one. Do not be frightened to use the search function.

 Remember that the rules list in the wikipage is a summary. Summarising a rule in a single sentence often makes it seem artificially black and white. Therefore, before you post an outraged comment that such and such a rule is too strict, unfair, or just plain ridiculous, be sure to read the sticky 'General Interpretation of the Game Rules' and the detailed explanation sticky of that specific rule. If you do not you will probably misunderstand the rule and look like a fool. Such a post where you obviously haven't done your background reading will be regarded as a meritless rant.

Important note

 Please remember that it is very unusual for players of a MMORPG to be given this much say in the rules of the game. Be aware that such access, via this board, is a privelege, not a right. As such all posters are expected to exercise greater responsibility in posting to this board than is expected in others. The moderators will be less tolerant of idiotic and spam posts in general. Excessive and widespread abuse of this board will result in it being closed and the rules being transferred to a format where they can be read but player input is not taken.

 The Vols, GMs, and DMs, and the devteam hope this will not be necessary. We want this experiment to succeed. We want the community to be able to help shape the game of which it is a vital part.
