Search function of this forum sucks... I used string "donation item stats" and was looking for the Fizzle's thread named "Donation items, stats" and it was on 2nd page of the search while on 1st page was mostly rubbish...

Hm, change to search for all terms and that thread is the third hit (now this one is first).

unfortunately the heuristics of search engines are limited to what you tell it instead of what you really mean.  If they were as good as what we want, you could type into google tecra8100 win2k drivers and it would open the proper page automatically.

I dont even think this site needs a search function. In my opinion, its not big enough for one. Of course my opinion doesnt matter according to everybody.

i do agree that the search function could be a bit more useful, is there any way to get a better search engine for the wesite, or would that be a silly thing to investigate?

iirc the search engine is part of the forums module.  Perhaps an eventual upgrade of pnphpBB2 (or replacement with an improved forum module) will include in it a better search engine.

i was having a problem with the search function. When you perform a search and then choose an entry in the result list and after that want to return to the list with the "back" option of your browser there is a message on a white screen "site is no longer available". If you want to get the list again and choose another entry you have to do the search all over again. Thats kinda annoying.

hmmmm sounds more like a browser settings issue (probably IE 7 on XP or Vista?) or Norton Internet Security (or similar program) with browsing history being cleared.  No problem with firefox (on linux or windoze) or ie6 that I've had (and I just did that yesterday).
