Currently if you buy a service from a Priest, such as Remove Death Sickness or Remove Depletion, the Priest will take your money regardless of whether you are suffering from that particular ailment.

I believe the Priest should check whether you need the service first, and tell you if not.

Somewhat similar to the Smith saying equipment doesn't need repair if you ask for it.

Tithing is one tenth, not the whole amount! And I don't think the priests are Mormons.

I was once visiting Provo for work and on a flight to SLC. The flight steward gave me a load of miniatures saying "You'll need these!". :)

On a related note, the smith currently charges you for identify even if there are no unidentified items in your inventory...
Doesn't matter, you'd die anyway. ;D Shroud's a hacker. After many hours of deep thought I have came to that conclusion.

I agree - such services should at the very minimum check that you aren't wasting your money. Especially priests, who charge IIRC somewhere around 25g for a L110 to remove DS.

Although IMO smiths are opening themselves to be taken advantage of with "one price fits all" on their "identify all" option - players can just offload hours worth of junk (with some goodies) for the low price of 5s.
