These 6 arches (lo_floor_water1 to lo_floor_water6) are edging tiles used to finish off a straight edge floor like a harbour leading to an expanse of water. The terrain type is currently set to  Land Surface. This means a player can walk along this single width of water. Where they are used as single-width "canals" this means the player can walk straight over them, instead of being blocked.

These arches should be set to terrain type Water Surface to provide blocking. On several of my maps I have had to resort to setting the Blocking Passage flag on each of these tiles.

I guess they r land terrain to reflrct that they r only shallow water. so in situations like a harbour the terrain trsnsition isn't so abrupt.

when you want them non-walksble on specific maps, dont use blocking passage, change the actual terrain. bp means they're abaolutely impassable -- no flying ovver (inc, arrows, spelld, mobs, boots of lvttn, etc),

Well, instead of the terrain being abrupt at the land border, it's abrupt one tile out, so I don't think that's a good argument to make them land terrain. It actually enabled a Shroud exploit, bypassing customs to smuggle out currency, by walking on water :)

I get the point about changing the terrain, rather than setting the blocking passage flag, so I will change that where it's already been done. The paddy field canals haven't been done yet, so that saves a bit of work.

(I wonder how many people get the connection between Ambrosia and creamed rice, the main export from that island?)

Just found another major exploit because of this. And I mean major. I bet Shroud has found it already, though I think he would have told me if he had.

Major exploits aside, I can't think of any case where you would want these arches to be other than water surface. Why not make that the default and make anyone who wants to make them land surface do what I am doing now?

Thank heavens for a decent text editor - this would take ages using Gridarta - you'll see how many maps are involved when I finish the changes and commit them.

Better late than never, I suppose. But how will this affect all those maps I have edited to add terrain_type 2?

And why are there vestigial traces of arches on DaiServ, in addition to the definitive ones on Daimonin. Should not the ones on DaiServ be removed altogether? There are many missing but others not in main collection - and where duplicated there are differences, such as the drow captain arch.

Do I now do a collect arches to get the update? (I also see that Daimonin also has a load of server code changes.)
