As I was stuck between stacks of 'un-crossable' copper in Stoneglow with _person_, Risetotop, and Uravgazn, I realized that the stacks consisted of 1 copper coin each. It came to mind that the four coin images should scale to the stack size, at least to some degree.

I've made a few images with the handy eraser tool in GIMP to give an idea of the amounts. As long as the proportions stay relatively even, any scaling could work. (Simple Example: Single Coin=1-10, Six Stack=11-25, Ten Stack=26-100, Fifteen Stack = 101+) Any thoughts?

Pseudocode from _person_:
Code: [Select]
if (ob -> nrof <= 10)
  (show image of one lonely coin)
elseif ob -> nrof <= 25 && nrof > 10)
  (show 6 coins)
elseif ob -> nrof <= 100 && nrof > 25)
  (show 10 coins)
elseif ob -> nrof > 100
  (show 15 coins)

Yeah. Something like that.

It's a nice idea, most likely it should be done on the client side.

I can't think of much right now, maybe I'll comment tomorrow after someone else says something. :)

Yeah excellent!

In SENTInce NPC GUIs, when you get coins (say a withdrawal from the bank or when I finish the shop/loot interface) it plays a sound depending on the approximate amount of coins.

I'm not sure if any scripts use this ATM (IIRC it is on by default, so they probably do automatically -- hm, it is disabled by default).

So yes a visual indicator too is nice.

Do the other coins and I'll add them. IDK what your pixel art skills are like, but coins that look more real and metallic, less cartoony would be nice.

I'm not sure we'd benefit at all from a new coin type (and it would mean tweaking the NPC GUI layout which works nicely for a row of up to four coin types).

But perhaps something between gold and mith because there's a huge gap. Or maybe just devalue mith (it is currently 1000x gold, why not just make it 100x in line with all the other denominations? In practice, what use is such a valuable coin other than to highlight how broken the economy currently is?)

I think a mith should still be 1000Xgold, and when the economy is fixed it should be hard to save up to a mith.
For some at least, part of the fun in a game like this is saving money, and a mith should be a mark of great wealth.

mith should be lighter, and silver should have better contrast in my opinion.

otherwise they look fairly nice!

Still not completely sure about the mithril color, but looks better than the first anyways...

and yes, i like ur attempts and yes, i think 1000g = 1 mith is okay for the mentioned reasons

OK... these are just mithril ones, trying to get the color right:

Which do you like best, if any? Or how can I improve it to make it look more like the color?

I like the idea of devaluing the mith. One mithril coin is currently equal to 10,000,000 copper, am I right?

I think it should be equal to 1,000,000 copper so that a mith would be an exact million - also to with the other denominations.

If a "wealth symbol" is truly necessary, then we could create a coin that would be more valuable than a mith.

Just throwing out ideas. :P
