Ok this might be another instance of my ignorance (i have really been making silly mistakes lately ...some of you might remember them ;) ) but i see that the line of what the duties and powers/rights of members of group and other tags (such as contributor) is a little blurred for the players. Thus the player has little or no knowledge of the functioning of the community and what he can do to help and how the various groups can help him achieve his goals in improving the game.
I really think that there should be some kind of basic guide(in forums most probably but daipedia is also an alternative) for newbies and other people who are too confused as to where to look. I personally feel that there is need to clarify the jobs, of various groups (and what does having some tag say about that person), to the players and community members (the traces of this confusion can be seen in many threads so either it is not well publicized or something like that ).
Please tell me if i have missed some spot to look for the above informations if it is available( and if i have then i am very sorry to raise this topic).

Well what do you mean by 'guide'?

Each group dord have a little descriiption on its group page, and Daipedia is split into several 'guides' for each group/ group of related groups (as described on the StartPage.

(Daipedia is definitely the place to do this, not the forum.)

That said, IMO the groups are not very fully realised yet. Only a few have any real meaning, such as Author giving Daipedia write access and Administrator giving site-wide admin privileges.

But Programmer for example really means nothing ATM. Except that it does declare your area of interest for quick/future reference. Which is quite useful for the project management, but currently it makes little difference to individuals if they're in Programmer or not.

The Contributor badge is pretty misleading, but it's been appropriated from an earlier stab at groups with a slightly different emphasis.
