At some point every community whether reality or on-line defines what it wants to stand for and what its values are. I have been playing Daimonin for close to 4 years now. I started when the main players were Fallon_Dark, Crazy Daisy and Trepie. I was here before the winter and Hallo maps existed and still remember when Crazy Daisy created the Valentine map. So why have I stayed?
To give a quick on-line history I used to play another pay game very much like Daimonin. There was player killing and free cussing allowed. The game was complete chaos. High level players were always killing low level players for the experience and the fun. Low level players could never level because they were always being killed by the high level players. And the anger was reflected in the language which was always four lettered. I quit this game as did most people and I have not been able to find it since so I believe it went bankrupt.
Very few people knew me until recently because I did not participate in the community when I first started in daimonin. I absolutely did not trust other players and did not want to be a part of the community, I was just looking for a place to leave reality for a while and relax in the form of a game.  I stayed with Daimonin because it was a game that held values of respect and decency, it is designed for all age groups and to just have fun. These are the values that the community has decided to adopt. If you don

Agreed Myths, one of the main reason's I can play this game as much as I do is because of the lack of offensive language ( I have a 9 year old daughter who can and will read everything available to her, I don't need her reading that kind of thing ). IMO Player's who repeatedly use this kind of language in shout should either have long term mute's or long term bans.

Also I agree with the need for rules. Without rules there's no sense of fairness and no sense of structure. Anyone who doesn't see the need should really play a game like the one Myths mentioned and just take a look at the chaos that ensues. It devalues everything about the game, because of the reasons Myths stated and also because you can never have a working economy; expensive items become easy to obtain and as such lose their value. Also a game needs a constant influx of new players, or it stagnates and eventually dies. Cut out the new players by allowing them to be killed constantly and nobody is around to buy lower level stuff from older players, older players lose the sense of value in having become high level, players have nothing to learn/explore/do and it all goes horribly wrong.

So here's a big thank you to all the Vols and GMs for keeping the peace, and a big thank you to those who make the rules which define the nature of the community and the game.

Glad to see that our actions ingame can carry into appreciation out of game by the peers. A safe community for young ones (and for those not so young...you people know who you are :p) is one of the main ideas that is stressed.

I've been playing for a good while now aswell and usually if you dont know me then your missing out on the party and the fun for the most part and ive been playing since roughly may of 06 so ive beenz around a good while :P

well theres a time and place for every thing so goes the saying and is quite true for allz thingz in life basically. and every action will result in a equal or greater action is also another that would fit this and again nearly everything in life the use of vulgar words to many in this community are words that deserve not to be in our chats both public and private for the most part

lol i sound kinda serious but funny stuff in there if you ask me :P

i agree with you but ask why the option i saw when you press f11 theres a censor for the chat why don't we just make it mandatory and it does it all the time that way people who don't want there kids reading it don't have to worry and still the gm's and vol's can still mute when someone is making it come up censored over an over.  just thought id ask bout that  >:D

Feels weird replying to a post with me quoted anonymously but still.

 :toungue:
I'm not sure about other places. but living in Ohio especially the northeastern part. Saying this words is just part of regular speech. if you were to go spend one day in a school  building (even elementary) you would hear things far worse then this. and probably see worse too. (that is if you make it out without a gun shot wound). It does not give a proper reason as why i said such "vulgar" (not really) words but i think a lot of you are over reacting. its just a few words that certain religions and cultures do not like. >:D

anyway. when i said this i was provoked (kinda) by another player who was using his 'high level' as leverage against me in a dispute(where i asked what a raid item was and he kinda like freaked out and basically called me dumb). seriously, guys the level doesn't matter, the respect should be throughout the game. not just in the 100+ members.

"If your friends jumped off a bridge would you? "
"if someone cusses in Daimonin do you?"

Same concept. i did not force others to use the words. and the mute i received (heavy) made me level to 35. and now im just ranting so I'm going to shut up and go to school

Just because it's ok in NE Ohio doesn't mean it's ok everywhere else.

vulagrity has no place in daimonin, dispite what others may think. with that being said (most will agree) tolerance for it has no place in my heart and will always be enforced until the day it is lifted from our community rules.

I agree, Daimonin should be kept clean. It is rather heavily moderated and seems rather in-your-face atm, but with everyone being stuck in shout, anything that goes in there directly affects the experience for every single player who is logged in. Therefore the VOLs and GMs are doing the best they can to keep everyone happy. Not all players understand this and the VOLs and GMs sometimes take a bit of stick as a result of being caught between a rock and a hard place. Once we have channels and shout becomes opt out (I'm assuming it will be turned into an official channel), then we can probably lax the rules to those of /tell for unofficial channels. That should keep everyone happy then, while the game rules still get enforced like they do now.

I agree. and i admit fault here. I snapped at the other player and i deserved the mute (which i sat through)

I think people are over-reacting to this issue. I realize its not just me that says these words in shout etc. I just think that people are over-reacting to a common issue.

I think there is somethings many of us are missing here.

First is that intolerance is never justifiable.
Second that a guilty conscience is always the best punishment (s/he admited s/he was wrong already, leave it to rest).
Third that people make mistakes (even YOU).

And finally: if vulgarity has no place in the game, then the obvious solution would be to have a simple chat filter on the client side.  This would prevent many obvious, in the moment vulgarities.  Its not about stopping people from being vulgar when they want to (thats what the Vol/GM team is for), but about keeping those "spur of the moment" vulgarities from being a major concern.

Don't mistake what i say, i by no means condone his/her actions.
