This obviously doesn't quite work right ATM -- for example, while I show only MM not MW or mapper, you still show both MM and MW for some reason, and I show both Admin and Global Mod, you show only Admin. Zrub shows both GM and VOL but I only show GM.

So something is a bit screwy still, but once it works properly a lot of the redundant badges will disappear.

So what needs to be done to get this working?
1) List all Groups (Forum, Gaming, ) in a static order (so later on always Forum badge comes first etc.)
2) add subgroups in hierarchical order
3) modify code, so profile shows badges of highest badge of the group u are in, always starting with forum etc.)

makes any sense? then let's start right here

Sure. The 'problem' is we need to hit encourage Michtoen to do this as the whole thing is very involved with his Drupal-SMF bridge (custom code which basically allows the website to work).

I simply don't know (and don't much want to find out -- nasty PHP!) how this works. So it would be a really really bad idea for me to try to fix this.

AIUI this bridge issue is also behind various other minor problems we have such as sigs not being updatable.

Lets take TPKs badges from the first post in this thread then:

So this is a suggestion (fairly quick) for a basic big v little group hierarchy and a hierarchy of big groups (but don't read too much into that).

Now as I said elsewhere, Developer should be Core Team.

Contibutor should be (currently it is called) Daimonin Project. This is the most basic group anyone can join. Joining it just indicates you have an (unspecified) interest in helping/following the project as opposed to just playing the game.

Musician, Author, and Artist are pretty much on the same level (so all 3 badges would be shown if you belong to all three groups).

I'm in two minds about where these should be in fact. Another possibility is to put them in the content dev big group, like so:

Then perhaps Contributor could be under Coder rather than a big group on its own?

In this way I would show just four badges:

sounds pretty much like a plan, ty smacky. just one thing: as this is a game and a community of gamers in the first line, and not a game developers page, I'd suggest to set in game badges top. this makes also sense, because all players will have to register and all VOLs, GMs etc. will have there in-game names as forum names as well (at least i think so). So after we will have travelled some time, players will use (public) forum much more than devs ... i think (might be completely wrong as well :P).
Otherwise, TPK might pull the lever and start phase 2?

I will be happy to say, what i dislike and what i like furtheron - although i have no talent in "really" producing anything for the game, sorry ... :-/
