Currently it seems that if you are within 3-ish squares of another player, you cannot target monsters anywhere on the map.

Do you know if this is since 0.10.7-b or before? Either way, needs fixing ASAO.

Fixed but not yet committed.

A follow-up question:

/talktries to communicate with the nearest/targeted mob or NPC (ie, not player). Sowhen you have noone (means self) targeted /talk searches for the next valid target (ie, command works and changes your target).

But when a player is targeted you just get a 'noone nearby is listening' message (ie, command fails with a misleadinh message, target is unchanged).

Should we cycle to the next valid target here or just change the message?

I'd say probably use the next valid target. Sorry I didn't respond before, I read it and was indecisive so I said "I'll save this post for later" and never got around to it. :)

I'll test the fix on Dev now.
