im working on an anti hack like vac. i know we had some of this in the past and maybe some today about people hacking the game to get better items or guessing peoples passwords. by this anti hack it wont let u log in with an invalid ip address. by loggings in u have to put ur own ip address plus ur password and username.
There is already such a system. It's called having a username and password to login with. ;)
Oh well, keep your ideas coming. I like them in a different kind of way. :)
Ah! I didn't get that point (although it seems obvious now ;)). But still, it's an extra hassle that will be too much for at least some players. Hm, ISTR an old forum thread on this topic... lol yes they could use ur ip but it will have to match ur ip see what im saying the two ip u put in the game and on ur pc would have to match to access ur account.
p.s lol i dont know lol if i keep doing this i might come with a better idea
hehe Actually, the game servers have never been hacked. Baddies have 'guessed' passwords (usually this means 'been told' or 'watched the legit user type', but sometimes people just have insecure passwords). Can't do much about those three situations (short of having code to reject insecure passwords when you first set it).
The problems with your idea, apart from what Nobbit says, are (a) it makes logging in more troublesome with no real benefit, (b) it's not much good for people who play from more than one location, (c) it's not much good for people with dynamic IPs, and (d) it's not much good (no more secure really) for people who play from public computers (such as school) where there may well be other players on the same network, so same IP, who are the most likely to 'guess' the PW.

Take a look at zuccas posts in the forums, the siggi will tell u ur ip. and as the player's account will match his forum account now ... But happy coding!
