WELL, if you really want to know what's been up with me in gory detail...starting in reverse chronological order...
Currently I don't have enough free time to actually do homework, studying, and the ongoing group work project that are required by the ONE class I'm taking this semester (a Database class for an Information Systems degree). So my grade is crap and I'm constantly frustrated at not being able to do much about it.
My GIBILL has run out so the last nine hours of college classes I'm going to have to foot on my own dime (which isn't really that big of a deal).
Since the beginning of this year my wife and I (oh, my significant other and I got officially married late last year) were freaking out as we thought that we were going to lose the farm. So we both were stressing out about the crappy job market and the lack of call backs after submitting applications/resumes. Eventually my wife made nice with a young lady who pulled some strings to get a job working for the County (whoo hoo, go government jobs).
The only place that would give me the time of day was the local hippy food store. Only they didn't have any positions open when I first applied. I spent about three months calling them back every week to make sure that my application was being bumped to the top of the pile of potential wage slaves. Eventually I was hired at the hippy food store, only nobody seemed to know what I was supposed to be doing. So I just started finding things to do. From the reactions I've seen of my manager-ish people I've made a fairly good impression.
I'm sorta a stocker-receiver-buyer-customer service rep-guy who lifts heavy objects-for slightly over minimum wage.
Only problem with the job, my hours have me working the evening shift. So I get home late, get to bed about midnight, wake up around 7 AM, take care of the animals, get my food for the day ready, and wind up only having a few hours to do anything school related (assuming I have the energy) before going to work. And I'm just not that programmer savvy to be able to write a program that can access and accurately query a database with 10+ tables and a few million records in the short amount of time I have between feeding things, dealing with farm emergencies, commuting into town, and working.
On the up side, with both of us working we are able to pay the bills. Also, my wife managed to get a spot in a farmer's market in what passes for a "big" city around where we live. The garden went to crap but sales from chicken and duck eggs have been over $2,000. She's managed to get a modest list of customers who seem to really like the eggs and show quite a bit of interest in wanting to see more local farmers start and thrive. Even had a few people come to us asking if we've thought about starting a Community Supported Agricultural project (some for veggies, some for milk). The wife is really excited about the potential for the farm actually being able to generate a respectable amount of income.
Maybe I'll manage to be around more in the near future. I did always like this place.. maybe I'll have some time in two weeks.

You have a farm and *another* job?? No wonder you don't have enough time for anything else. Good luck to the two of you.
