Tonight I helped Chacmool through the rat infested wall, healed him, as he got to the rat king and killed him for the tail, also gave him 10g as a start, showed him the bank, and got him a cheap apartment. Also I taught Mavento how to set-up his movement keys and how to move, shout, and minimize his client window. I got very kind responses from these players, let's hope they stick around. :)
One of my biggest problems is spending the time at a nearly equal level. IT would help if we could have a "fixed" account at like lvl7 or so with basic healing,
Just so they don't feel daunted by a lvl 110 person who by pre expectation "couldn't possible be their friend and share in adventures"
I have a few accounts under lvl11, but not being able to know their weapon type by Exaim makes it hard to give them use able items.
And of course I don't stay on any of those accounts long enough to be considered "known" to a returning player who seeks to have some sense of friends.
We almost need a player or 2, And a "on or off duty" VOL mix to provide a basic "social group" until they get to lvl7 or 8 and can handle that "cure" spell quest.
/BEWARE BLACK CATS!
Someone (Drace?) asked yesterday about recruitment ideas to pull in new players. Treat new players like old friends and they stay... far more important than pulling in numbers.
But I'm a noob so what do I know.
(Oh, wait...)
