A new release of the Windows client installer is available on the download page. The old release will not connect to the dev server, so you need this one. It can safely be installed over your old version, so no problems there.
This release incorporates several bug fixes as a result of the player feedback on the dev server and a few minor new features. These are the player-visible ones:
- Alderan fixed the minor healing bug (where it showed the wrong number).
- Smacky fixed the smiley bug (where it showed smileys everywhere, not just in chat).
- Smacky fixed the -server switch (so 0=local, 1=main, 2=test, 3=dev).
- Lippy textured the health modifier and rest bars.
- Nite_Star and Smacky added a predefined keys-laptop.dat and added some default bindings for the various methods of chat.
- Smacky replaced 'how much do you want to get/drop?' with 'how many do you want to get/drop?'
- Smacky made some initial changes to the way map music is handled; this should be invisible to players, but please report any problems.
Bigger changes, and the reason for the new release, come from Lippy and begin the process of game balancing:
- The weapon speed and skill delay timers have been integrated into a single action timer. The immediate effect of this is that players can no longer simultaneously use other skills while attacking mobs in melee. This was an unfair advantage to the melee skills before this change.
- The 'You can shoot again' messages have been removed, and a new timer has been added to the client UI instead to notify the player how long until the action timer has ran out.
- Stopped stats wrapping around when too much food of poison is eaten at once.
