Every game comes with a so called "web banner".
These banners are used to announce daimonin on toplists, game sites or other internet sources.
Our current banners are pretty much outdated:

There are a few things which much fit for our new banner
- it MUST be 468x60 pixels (standard banner size)
- it should be an animated gif AND a static jpg
- it should NOT include game graphics from our 2d client
- it should NOT dark but light in colors
Well, the size of a banner is always set to 468x60, toplists
don't allow other sizes uploaded. Please have in mind we have soon a 3d client. So please don't use ingame graphics and don't let it looking like a map screenshot of our current client.
A static jpg and a gif means that i would prefer to have a slightly animated gif banner, but we also should be able to create a static jpg out of it. Not all sites allow animated banners, thats the point.
And it should be alot lighter in colors as the 2 examples above. These banners are much to dark! I would like to see yellow and lighter red colors, these are great eye catcher. But thats only an suggestion, also other colorful layouts are welcome as long our red banner fits in.

Well, just upload the banner to your profile user pictures (there is a new gallery selection called "banner contest") and announce it here in the comments. The winners will get some free picks from the donation items which will be soon online again (and alot of fame for sure).

Perhaps if the logo has the big final N like the title on the site, but the smaller AIMONI letters at the top rather than the bottom you could fit FREE MMORPG and other highlights into the gap at the bottom.
I like the feel you describe/are going for. IMO that is right for the game, if not always entirely well captured ATM.
Without wanting to poach you from this, perhaps if/when you have time you might think about illustrating the background story too. :)
I decided that I would post now what I have started on. It is not completed. I am posting it in it's current state in efforts to save time- should the design feel sloppy or inappropriate then I will not have invested hours in the animation process.
I specialize in animation and do them all frame by frame. Tedious but it allows for anything to be possible. I'm also unaware of any size requirements so, again, I felt it best to post what I have thus far.
I decided that a lighter color scheme would work nicely, but I liked the feel of the original banner- dark and ominous, promising the game would be the like. I decided to keep the feeling of a castle though to give the viewer a feeling of a dungeon or fantasy, without having to restrict myself to a darker pallet. On the left I decided to make the title more ominous with the color selection as well as the feathered black and red mists.
The final non-animated would include the text "FREE MMORPG" somewhere. The final animated would be the kicker however. Where "FREE MMORPG" would be located, the animated version will included fade outs to other highlights. The castle in the background will slowly scroll upward, giving the effect that the camera is panning up toward the top of the castle, where light will shine through as captured in the current example. I was thinking on some crisp clean birds flying past the castle while it's panning and disappear into the horizon, and the mist around the title to drift a little.
Let me know what your opinion is, or if I'm like years behind the need for a new banner =P

MT- Sorry but I can't contribute anything more to the banner contest. Unfortunately my computer suffered a crash in which I lost photoshop and all my pictures and work from the past 2 1/2 years. :c

Thats a good eye catcher, even i think this kind of style can be improved:
- The colorful, light style is great as an eye catcher
- a bit more animation
- one of two detailed fantasy gfx like a knight or something
So, give it a try :)

MT I'd be happy to work 1 on 1 with you in designing the larger animated banner you're looking for...I'm a photoshop wiz with a lot of time on his hands.

The banners I've submitted have only taken me 10-15 minutes.
Lets say i do a first check end of the week and see we can exchange our old banner with a new one. BUT: There are some sites, so i want let this go a bit. I want for example also a big animated banner, i assume that will cost some time. So, this is ongoing some time, but we will do everytime we have some a selection.
What is the time frame for this contest? I graduate on the fourth of June, but I have a few weekends that I could use in the mean time to work on it.

Okay your pic wasnt bad, it was just the shaking red under the "Daimonin" and under the 'D' was very annoying. But then again everything is annoying to me :D

Comment on jigsaw's piece-
The image you used in the background has to be your own or a stock image- otherwise it is considered illegal. The banners are for more or less commercial purpose and these images, being on the internet, are going way over the maximum cap to exemplify you from the illegality of it.

EDIT: I couldn't make an animated one, because the GIF had to make it indexed and it didn't show up right (it looked really bad) so I only made non-animated ones...I think I saved them as PNGs but I can save them as JPGs if needed.
nice ones, i look for the daimonin fonts, with that you can create the same as you found in our site header.

Though, Jigsaw, the one you did where you edited it so the spelling was right the text is a bit hard to read...the style of the text on the misspelled one is easier to read (I hope that made sense :P).

No, everyone of course. The group is only the area this task is realted to. You can create as many as you like, upload them like you upload personal pictures, there is a own image gallery section for it.
Do we have to be part of this group to join?
And do we only make one banner?
