good lord put it in basic laymen words King can understand.....what they mean bro is you posting that Sign makes you look like your trying "flash some Bling" or 'One Up everyone" by having a sign posted that flashes, catches the eye ect ect ect, Self promotion.....
thats what they all talking about. personally i like it, looks cool bro! rock on with it
The meaning of words MAY change? They change with every iteration - as Derrida points out in his concept of iterability, especially in Limited a b c (very worth reading, btw - a great piece of ironic and cynic scientific literature :-P)
It may also be from L. arrogantem "assuming, overbearing, insolent." Etymology aside, the origin of the word is not necessarily its definition. As culture is to some extent, influenced by the individual's understanding; the meaning of words may change. (So I'll add petulance ;)
To quote Lorenzo's Oil "Arrogant - from the latin 'arrogai' meaning to seek."
Arrogant is a word often mis-used these days. Petulance would be more appropriate in this case IMO, indeed from the aformentioned Roman goddess Petulantia. ;-)
Looks like Nobbit's joke didn't sink in. Guess I'll explain,
Hybris in Ancient Greek times was the worst crime of all, originally "crime against the gods,". Hybris and hubris are both alternative spelling, now "arrogance, petulance". Given that the title of this game Daimonin is Ancient greek, Nobbit may also be referring to the many "crimes" Blade_wolf has committed (troublemaker) or crime against god (Vols, GMs, MT, etc).
well, in Ancient Greek it is identical: Hybris, actually it's Ybris with spiritus asper, but that is more something for grommit, who knows better in this area, i guess ;-)
HUBRIS means extreme haughtiness or arrogance. Hubris often indicates a loss of touch with reality and overestimating one's own competence or capabilities, especially for people in positions of power. Afaik Blady is not in any position of power even though he would like to be.
HYBRIS was the goddess or spirit (daimon) of insolence, violence, wantonness, reckless pride, arrogance and outrageous behaviour in general. The Romans the personification as Petulantia. Would appear to be much closer, though it is a bit mean making him a Goddess.
