I felt secretly productive today, but not nearly enough to actually accomplish much. But I made a to-do list!

Writers
  • Background stories for each of the races
  • Background stories for each of the guilds and histories.
  • Why has each guild settled where they have?
  • Master's stories. Why do they believe their ways to be best?

Artists -- Thank you, Joey!!
  • Guild Flags: Mercenary, Mage, Priest, Battlemage, Palladin, Divine Sorcerer
  • Monk gauntlets
  • Embroidered member's cloaks (and other rewards)

Mappers
  • Naga, human, elf, half-elf, dwarf tutorials/starter places. -- Clobber started this but is more than willing to have someone else make better ones.
  • Guild Hall Changes: NPCs to match scripts. Put a boat by docks.
  • Stonehaven Castle Changes: Add a mercenary guild.
  • Mountains: Add a mage guild. -- Petarkiller made me one, just gonna copy and paste it in.
  • Add master spe****ts to maps.
  • Illuma: Add divine sorcery, palladin guilds

Scripters
  • Quests/Teaching for starter guild.
  • Change current GH quests for different rewards (e.g. MB is already learnt so Jahrlen needs to offer something else)
  • Change Taleus reward to boost for Ag. (because Ag is already learnt)
  • Scripts for mercenary and mage guild. Exp/items rewards.
  • Alter scripts with changed rewards in GH and SHV
  • Give masters scripts/skills to teach etc.
  • Add clues to guilds as to where masters are.
  • Make quests/scripts for divine sorcery and palladin guilds.
  • Sort out ranks in scripts.
  • Update battlemage guild's quests to make sure there is membership.

Coders
  • Change so first time log-in sends to respective race location - I spent quite a while working on this today and can't quite figure it out. _person_, would you be able to have a go? I did. --_people_
  • Guild set up (stats, attunement etc.)
  • Add spe****ations (stats, attunement etc.)

Race   str/dex/con/int/wis/pow/cha

Elf        12/15/11/13/11/15/11 = 88
Half-Elf 13/14/12/12/12/14/12 = 89
Dwarf    14/12/14/12/13/12/12 = 89
Human  13/13/13/12/13/13/12 = 89

Elf : Elves are an agile race that specialise in spellcasting. As most elves spend their infancy in libraries reading books they are physically weaker than the other races. Elves were traditionally the fairest of all races until the gods grew jealous. As a result all elves have been cursed with ugliness hence they're the only race with 11 cha and have a stat point less than every other race along with a certain dislike of gods. Elves suffer much racial prejudice and are often discriminated against by shopkeepers who charge them higher prices.

Half-Elves: Contrary to common belief not all half-elves are half human. Depending on half elf in question they can be half dwarf, orc, drow, slime, dragon, beholder or whatever other race you can (or can't) imagine. As a result of their rather varied heritage they lack any special traits and are a fairly versatile race with slightly less magical affinity than elves but without their curse or weakened physique.

Dwarf: Dwarves from a young age are reared in the finest possible environment. From the age of 2 a dwarf is expected to work in the mines for up to 23 hours a day with a pickaxe in one hand and a bottle of booze in the other. It is universally known that booze is the drink of the gods due to it's grace enhancing properties and as a result most dwarves become much more attuned to gods. It is rumoured that a dwarf's worst fear is sobriety

Humans: Humans are distinctly average and are a jack of all trades and a master of none. Humans are given a well rounded education that allows them to excel in all subjects. While the other races rely on exploiting their own racial traits humans rely on hard work.

That's what you can use as a placeholder until someone with skill writes something :P
Doesn't matter, you'd die anyway. ;D Shroud's a hacker. After many hours of deep thought I have came to that conclusion.

Drow are not half-elves, but an entirely different race? of elves all and in themselves. Drow are dark elves that tend to dwell underground and lead raids against the "forest dwellers" pillaging and killing elves for fun :D Unlike the fairskined elves that dwell in the sunlight, drow are dark skinned, ebony/ black. Although I dunno if Daimonin holds to this translation of drow or not. At least my understanding of them anyway. And drow are more warrior like but also possessing magikal skills as well.

That's what he's saying. A half-elf has to be half-something else, in his example, dwarf/orc/drow. ;) If you have only half of an elf that's more indicative of a dead elf.

Well I actually hadn't considered other option. Initially I assumed that a half elf was simply an entity of mixed ancestry. Although I guess it could theoretically be an elf that has been cut in half.

I would assume good names for half elves could be things like legs and torso. Head is a good name for a 1/4 elf :P

Practically I guess the way a half elf would operate is that you start off with an elf and then you cut it in half. You can either be a purist and have it hobble on it's remaining limbs or you can necromantically add additional parts like in half human below who was originally a peasant until he had top half replaced :)

So it's been a while since I worked on this feature and I don't remember exactly how it works. It's not 100% finished but IIRC I had the list hard-coded into the server at the point I was at. Make your own list and I'll deal with it when I have the chance.

For the past few weeks (and the next 4) I've been extremely busy. That'll get better around April but until then I really don't have time to finish that feature. I'll make sure it gets done ASAP but until then you'll just have to pretend it exists. ;)

That's fine; I have two days left of being dai-productive and am then very busy for the next 5 so we should balance out well.

Hmm... for now I'm gonna put an invisi exit on the current spawn point to create the illusion that the player spawns in the correct place :p

Now, the maps that I'm putting up are the bare bones - Obliterator offered several weeks ago to decorate them and I'm holding him to it :)  I'll commit them so he can improve upon them at his leisure and Im going to try and crack on with a few other bits...

Great! I'm back on the non-productive train for a few weeks. But I plan to have this finished by the summer.

I've made good progress with this today. In two days, I'll need someone proficient with the map maker to decorate and develop the starting areas for me, please :D

And then I'll start fiddling with the GH, SHC and SHV scripts. Following that I think we'll have a big old commit and a test. Any testers around in the next two weeks (MT)?

Made good progress once again today. I have three more scripts to make and 2 to fix before the Human plane is finished.

Following that, I'll need to add a couple of Guilds to Illuma with scripts and then that'll be the gross structure done.
