Hmm, that's strange, I tried to post something with a spoiler tag, and it gave me an error about not having the permissions to use it. Then, I removed the spoilers and it said I had already posted. Now I don't see the message!!

Try now. You (anyone) should be able to post and read spoilers but only in this board.

I have to admit, it's a silly place to put a fake wall when you have to pass through it in order to complete a central quest. There are no clues to tell you where it is, or even that it exists, and just about everyone who has attempted the quest has only managed to complete it by asking on shout.

I actually found it on the first second day B4 was opened.  It's not too difficult in my opinion.  Of course i did it without knowing there was a quest, i just happened to find the keys i needed, and notice that the wall looks different (my helm of demon eyes helped as well).

This isn't unreasonable, most FF# games (eg. FF1/2/3 US versions) have hidden walls that are mostly unknown about (and unseen).

That quest for the outlaws did give clues, and the one wall where it didn't is too easy to accidentally trip through.

EDIT: Now that stupid spoiler works :P

I think you are on about a different dungeon here. From the description it looks like you are talking about the Jagged Cave, as the fake walls in there look slightly different to regular walls.

The dungeon for the 2h quest does not require keys, and the fake wall looks no different to any regular wall, so the only way anyone is going to know it's there is if they happen to step over it by mere coincidence. The problem with this particular case is that it shouldn't be a secret, because you need to know it in order to complete a quest that is central to the game. Secrets are good as long as they are optional, but this particular quest is vital if you ever want to stand any chance of being a warrior. It is a low level quest too, so there is no way the players attempting the quest will have demon eyes. Other games may have secrets too, but at least they don't block the progress through the game.

Personally, I think the quest should at least give a clue that the fake wall is there. It's bad map design otherwise.

Ah, yes, that is correct, sorry, thinking of the wrong one.  I have never done the other quest you mentioned, so i wouldn't know about it.

If it's the one I'm thinking of Lippy, there is a clue to the fake wall. As you walk past it you get a message saying something about a breeze coming from the east ( the fake wall being on that side of you should make it obvious that a breeze can't come through a wall ). You get a similar message ( though not as obvious ) on the second fake wall.

I found my way no problem IIRC.

You are probably thinking of the Ancient Cavern, which was one of Lippy's maps, or Under the Village (Anonymous).
