Not that it helps me lvl up...

but do any of you honourable saviours of human race know:

1) what are the days of the week?
    (it was the day of Thunder when I last checked)

2) what months are there?
    (it was the month of Ice Dragon when I last checked)

3) whether anything special happens on a special day?

just curious... :roll:

Well, we have special maps for occasions, like x-mas, valentines day and Halloween, I'm not to sure how you got the months TBH but we usually just go by RL.

Scram means the ingame time -- /time.

From server/src/common/time.c:
Code: [Select]
const char *season_name[SEASONS_PER_YEAR]               =
{
    "The Season of New Year", "The Season of Growth", "The Season of Harvest", "The Season of Decay",
    "The Season of the Blizzard"
};

const char *weekdays[DAYS_PER_WEEK]     =
{
    "the Day of the Moon", "the Day of the Bull", "the Day of the Deception", "the Day of Thunder",
    "the Day of Freedom", "the Day of the Great Gods", "the Day of the Sun"
};

const char *month_name[MONTHS_PER_YEAR] =
{
    "Month of the Ice Dragon", "Month of the Frost Giant", "Month of the Clouds", "Month of Gaea",
    "Month of the Harvest", "Month of Futility", "Month of the Dragon", "Month of the Sun", "Month of the Falling",
    "Month of the Dark Shades", "Month of the Great Infernus", "Month of the Ancient Darkness",
};

I don't believe anything happens on particular times. I don't know if MT already has plans for this, like gods? Another thing I don't know is if these names are Daimonin-specific or just a throwback to Crossfire.

Whatever the answers IMO this area is ripe for development.

Clobber type /time  , its was very useful in knowing when the eastern ants and bees would spawn.

The mapeditor has a sensor for time, day, etc  so mapmakers can create calendar related changes on their maps.

thanks ppl.

so seven days a week, twelve months a year. . . not too different from real life except for five seasons we've got in there.

hmm... so monster spawning time can be exploited for lvling up... I will have to check this out. :D

Sorry to Necropost, but I actually had a question about this (Smacky already answered some of it over two years ago earlier in this thread-I think the calendar should be in the wiki...).
What I'm still wondering is what the relationship between RL time and in game time is? (i.e. X minutes/seconds rl=Y hours in game, after X hours rl=Y days in game pass etc.) It would be nice to be able to use the in game calendar to tell time so to speak (I.E. Zrubavel shouts: I'm having a big drop party  during the month of Gaea...)

uhmmm, i did a little search in the forums and although i am sure i read something to this topic a while ago i was not able to find it. Furthermore, I am absolutely sure that we had a puzzle thread, where one of the puzzles was about daimonin in-game time, where one could probably find help. However, to have it in a post where eveybody would be able to find it easily sounds pretty rational, Dr. zrubi ;) Cool idea

Ermm Smacky I can see that both of these threads deal with the Daimonin Calender in the sense that they are about the History of Daimonin, and they explain
why you type /time it gives the years in Numbers (last time I did this before my ealier post it was 31 or so)- I am assuming this is from the "present" in the time lines (i.e. 70 y.a. would actually be 101 years in the past from current game date).
I am still wondering what the correlation between the passage of time in "non-daimonin-otherworld" existence is, and the passage of hours/days/months and years in game is (i.e. how much otherworld time passes when in game we go from year 31 to 32 for example...).

Hm, IIRC it's approx one Dai hour = 4 real minutes.

But also, I'm not sure you can really schedule something to happen at x ingame time because everytime the server crashes or is restart (which seems to happen a lot) the ingame clock is reset. We're highly unlikely ever to get past year 1 it seems, but OTOH it doesn't make much sense to have a persistent passage of time in a game where one player can come along and do quest A then a year later another player can do quest A too as if it had never been done before.

That said, it may be that the ingame clock is somehow based on real time, IDK having never looked.

Anyway, my point in linking to those two threads was in the hope that someone who isn't me would respond to my post and work on a proper Dai calendrical system (both in the sense of historical time periods and name for days of the week, months of the year, etc -- IMO it's no good to use the current (I assume) CF system, becaus Dai should have something unique and meaningful to itself -- maybe special days in the year, and so on.

OOh ok I see everything.
I'll work on a suggestion for this (I got some ideas) and post in response to your original query.
