So you've found a bug. Where do you report it? Here or bugtracker?

Well there's no definitely right or wrong answer. The important thing is that you report it. No report = no fix.

Some benefits of reporting here are:

  • It's just easier for you to write a post rather than figure out the UI of the bugtracker. Of course, YMMV and the bugtracker is less daunting to some than others.
  • Other player's (and devs) are more likely to read and add to your bugreport than if it's in the bugtracker.

Some benefits of reporting to the bugtracker are:

  • Your report, if not fixed immediately will not get buried and forgotten.
  • The bugtracker has a nice organisation specifically for the purpose of reporting bugs.

Just one thing to take note of: To be able to report a bug using the bugtracker you need to be part of a devgroup.

Suggestion:
Create a board dedicated to bugs, subsections could be content, client, server, critical, trivial, etc...

However, just wanted to report a bug:

If you /reply <long text>  the client will disconnect and throw the player back to the server selection screen, I remember this being a topic at b4 already, back then the client crashed completely.
Back at b4 I patched my client to circumvent a crash and pm'ed a dev the patch, atm I forgot how to fix it, I'll take a closer look at the weekend.

Players testing the development client should stick things on bugtracker if at all possible please. Post to the board if you want discussion of course but it#s going to make it far easier for me to keep track of what's done and what's to do if things are on bugtracker.

I've added Clobber and Torch as content devs on bugtracker (_people_ was already) and _people_ and Torch as code devs. This means you can edit, assign, close, etc (and fix ;)) such reports.
